Gorilla Trekking Adventure In Uganda

OVERVIEW

These four days gorilla safari will give a total wild trekking experience in the thick impenetrable forest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is one of the hot spot to trek the gorillas, known for harboring half of the word famous mountain gorillas. The safari will also give you a taste of the community experience and opportunity to experience the verdant country side of Uganda.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: Pick up From Entebbe Airport

Your adventure begins on arrival at the Entebbe. Entebbe is a city in Central Uganda. Located on a Lake Victoria peninsula, approximately 36 kilometres (22 mi) southwest of the Ugandan capital city, Kampala. The city is the location of Entebbe International Airport, Uganda’s largest commercial and military airport. Entebbe is also the location of State House, the official office and residence of the President of Uganda. Entebbe sits on the northern shores of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake.

Up on landing at Entebbe airport, you will be pickup at the airport by our company representative, who will brief you shortly before you are transferred to the hotel in Entebbe for your overnight

DAY 2: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will be picked from the hotel after your morning breakfast, you will drive to Bwindi with lunch at  Mbarara. As you proceed to Bwindi, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the rolling country side, until your lost in the beautiful land scape of Kisoro before being lost in the dense forest of Bwindi.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is situated along the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) border next to the Virunga National Park and on the edge of the Albertine Rift. Composed of 321 square kilometres (124 sq mi) of both montane and lowland forest, it is accessible only on foot. BINP is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization-designated World Heritage Site.

The park is a sanctuary for colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, and many birds such as hornbills and turacos. It is most notable for the 400 Bwindi gorillas, half of the world’s population of the endangered mountain gorillas. 14 habituated mountain gorilla groups are open to tourism in four different sectors of Buhoma, Ruhijja, Rushaga and the Nkuringo in the Districts of Kanungu, Kabale and Kisoro respectively all under the management of Uganda Wildlife Authority.

Species diversity is a feature of the park. It provides habitat for 120 species of mammals, 348 species of birds, 220 species of butterflies, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos, and many endangered species. Floristically, the park is among the most diverse forests in East Africa, with more than 1,000 flowering plant species, including 163 species of trees and 104 species of ferns. The northern (low elevation) sector has many species of Guineo-Congolian flora, including two endangered species, the brown mahogany and Brazzeia longipedicellata. In particular, the area shares in the high levels of endemisms of the Albertine Rift.

DAY 3: Gorilla Trekking, Community Experience 

You will have breakfast and thereafter you will head out for gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will be transferred to the park headquarters and in the company of the ranger guides, you traverse the forest jungle, hiking steep slopes and descending narrow valleys not forgetting crossing the seasonal streams in search of these endangered apes. The whole encounter can last about 2 – 6 hours with one full hour of spending with the gorillas. You will later return for lunch, before heading for the batwa community experience. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge

DAY 4: Drive back to Entebbe, Departures

Today after your early morning breakfast, you will get on to the vehicle and drive back to Kampala with an en route lunch and with a stopover at the equator for photography and equator experience.  Reaching in the afternoon for transfer to the airport to catch up with your departure flight
